When choosing a Backpack you should consider the amount of gear you need to carry. You should never carry more than 1/3 of your body weight but even that amount is usually too much. In most weather you should aim to get your total pack weight (including food and water) under 30 lbs. Although you can still purchase External Frame packs, more modern Internal frame packs, like the ones we rent, distribute the load better and reduce fatigue.
