We ship most items via UPS and some smaller items via the US Post Office to our large customer base in the Northeast US corridor, but can ship to any deliverable location in the continental US. We can also ship rental gear to Alaska and Hawaii but it requires a quote for shipping costs - just give us a call. Unfortunately we cannot ship to Canada or other points outside of the US due to delays and costs in customs.
If you want us to ship to a motel along your travel route, you should let them know in advance to expect a package, and be sure the shipping addressee you give us is to the person named on the reservation at the motel; otherwise they sometimes have trouble matching it up. If we ship to a UPS facility for pickup, keep in mind pickup hours vary from location to location, and very few are open on Sunday. Shipments to a 'UPS Customer Center' are the most reliable; gear is usually available first thing in the morning; and there are no pickup fees. But most are only open weekdays. On the other hand, shipments to a 'UPS Store' in a shopping center for example are sometimes more convenient, but there will probably be a pickup fee charged by its independent owner and not all such stores accept shipments for non-regular customers; you should call a targeted store to confirm their policies. Some lodges at National Parks accept UPS shipments, but you should confirm that in advance as there may be special shipping-label instructions that vary from the address on their web site - just call and ask if they accept UPS shipments, and if there are any special instructions. UPS often has a delay in shipments inside a Park.
This site calculates one-way shipping costs by the total shipping weight of the gear in the cart. Note that "shipping weight" for camping gear is nearly always more than its actual carrying weight due to the high volume and low density of most gear items.
Any shipment up to 10 pounds is $10, and the rate increases in increments of $5 - $10 in higher weight brackets. You will see the total shipping cost before entering any personal information. For orders of interest that exceed 150 shipping pounds, you will be prompted to call us for a more precise quote. If you will be picking up gear at our location in AZ, use our store address for shipping and we will remove the shipping charge from the total.
You can return the gear via any carrier of your choosing, but you should use one that has tracking. Be sure to tape the box(es) well for a safe return as you are responsible for the gear until it is returned to us. You must drop it with the carrier by the end date of your rental term to avoid any late charges; we use the postmark or UPS pickup date as the governing end date. See our Rental Policies for more information.
